A majority of the tested CPUs were able to extract the most amount of frames from the GTX 980. Again we realize we are testing these CPUs with a GPU bottleneck, but had we tested at 1080p almost every processor would have been capped at 60fps. The AMD FX-9590 put on an impressive show as it matched the Core i7-5960X with 51fps, the Core i7-4960X and FX-8350 both averaged 50fps, while the i7-4770K, i7-3770K, i5-4690K and i7-3960X along with the AMD FX-4320 and FX-6350 all hit 49fps. It’s worth pointing out that the game is perfectly playable on Core i3 processors and we even found playable performance on the dual-core Pentium.
