We expected AMD to do better in Tomb Raider since they supported the title’s development, but the R9 290X was 12% slower than the GTX Titan and 3% slower than the GTX 780, though it exceeded the HD 7970 GHz Edition’s performance by 34%.
Interestingly, despite weaker than expected results above, the card’s frame time performance in Tomb Raider is much more impressive, being 1% faster than GTX Titan, 3% faster than the GTX 780 and 51% quicker than the HD 7970 GHz Edition.
The R9 290X averaged 70.1fps in Resident Evil 6 for 25% better results than the HD 7970 GHz Edition while landing between the GTX Titan and GTX 780.
