The new mainstream 28nm cards were particularly welcomed because AMD’s sub-$200 lineup had grown a little stale over the years, with the HD 5750 and 5770 being shamelessly rebadged as HD 6750 and 6770 in the previous generation. Unfortunately, our enthusiasm was short-lived. The HD 7750 was a tad slower than the last-gen GeForce GTX 550 Ti, though its performance detriment was easily justified by having a lower asking price and consuming 30% less power....

The HD 7750 averaged about 11fps slower than its sibling, which was still enough to push it 2% over the GTX 550 Ti. It was also 13% faster than the old HD 6770 and 23% faster than the HD 6750. The HD 7770 averaged 57fps in Crysis Warhead at 1680x1050, which is the same average frame rate produced by the GTX 460 and 17% slower than the GTX 560. That said, it was 6% faster than the HD 6790, 21% quicker than the HD 6770 and 24% faster than the GTX 550 Ti....

With its upgraded cooler, the HIS Radeon HD 7750 maxed at 64 degrees under stress in FurMark, which is the same temperature reached by the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 460. The majority of low-end to mid-range graphics cards operated at around 60 degrees, so nothing there’s out of the ordinary here. On the other hand, AMD’s Radeon HD 7770 reference design got quite hot at 81 degrees. We should note that at this temperature, the graphics card fan didn’t make any more noise than the chassis fans....

According to 3Dmark 11, the Radeon HD 7970 is 39% faster than the GeForce GTX 580 and 50% quicker than its predecessor. Those are some pretty amazing results, so let’s move on to the games to confirm their accuracy.

When testing Medal of Honor the Radeon R9 270X was 5% faster than the Radeon HD 7870 and 16% faster than the GTX 660. The Radeon R7 260X on the other hand was 5% faster than the 7790 and 7% faster than the GTX 650 Ti. Here we see just a 3% increase in performance for the Radeon R9 270X when compared to the Radeon HD 7870. The Radeon R7 260X on the other hand was 19% faster than the 7790 in this test....

The R9 295X2 averaged 128fps at 2560x1600 in Max Payne 3, making it 19% faster than the GTX 780 SLI cards and 73% faster than the GTX 780 Ti. It was also 75% faster than the R9 290X, while it beat the HD 7990 by 31% and the GTX 690 by 54%. The R9 295X2’sMax Payne 3 frame time performance was strong at just 10.4ms between frames, the fastest card tested....

Despite using the highest possible in-game quality settings we see that the RX 460 and other mid-range to low-end graphics cards have no issue delivering over 100fps at 1080p. With ultra-affordable previous-generation GPUs such as the R7 250 providing over 100fps, the RX 460 doesn’t really break new ground here. The RX 460 looks a bit more impressive in CS:GO. I’m told that seriously competitive CS:GO players aim for at least 200fps and if true the RX 460 delivers that with 8xMSAA enabled....

In order to undercut those products, the Radeon RX 460’s ~$110 MSRP has the potential to deliver a superior cost per frame option, unless you slap 4GB onboard and try to sell it for $139 which is what many manufacturers like Sapphire intend to do. In that case, the RX 460 remains a step forward, it’s just a very small step. As mentioned earlier, the RX 460 features 13% fewer cores than the R7 370 along with a massive downgrade to the memory interface which reduces bandwidth by 37%....

Based on those specs, we’re expecting typical performance gains over the 6900 XT to be in the vicinity of 5-10%, which should help AMD in their flagship halo product battle with Nvidia. In this case, AMD has increased the MSRP from $1,000 to $1,100 which doesn’t bother me all that much since this was never a value oriented product, hence I was more concerned with the price increase on the 6650 XT and 6750 XT models....

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided was tested using the high quality preset and like all the other games, we ran it at 1080p. Interestingly, the 1500X seems to max out the GTX 1080 Ti as overclocking this CPU provides no extra performance. That’s odd because we know using the same settings and hardware the 1800X can reach 115fps, so I’m not sure what’s limiting the 1500X here. Anyway, out of the box the 1400 matches the average frame rate of the 7350K and that made it slightly slower than the Core i5-7400....

There’s quite a number of new CPUs and GPUs launching today, so we’re not going to be able to cover them all at once, but the goal will be to go over most of the key players in the coming weeks as they filter in over time. Of course, we’ve already made the introductions and we covered the news a few weeks back, but this marks the day when actual shipping products will become available and we are able to publish hands-on reviews and testing....

As expected for a TN panel, the weak areas of this display are in viewing angles and contrast ratio. The AG251FZ is best viewed from directly in front; viewing from off angles results in luminance shifts, which are particularly noticeable in the vertical direction. Contrast ratio measured in at just 868:1 in its default mode, which is lower than AOC rates for this monitor, and lower than any IPS panel on the market....

Apple is now accepting orders for the 13-inch MacBook Pro with M2. It, along with the new Air, have been featured in Apple’s online store since the reveal but weren’t available to actually buy. The new MacBook Pro starts at $1,299 and includes an M2 with an eight-core CPU and 10-core GPU, 8GB of unified memory and 256GB of SSD storage. It’s being offered in your choice of silver or space gray and will ship early on June 23....

Gurman added that Apple is already working on M3-powered versions of the MacBook Air and the iMac in addition to a MacBook Pro refresh set for 2025 complete with OLED screens and touch support. Gurman originally predicted the M3-equipped MacBook Air might arrive in 2023, perhaps earlier in the year. Last week, however, Apple refreshed its MacBook Pros with M2 Pro and M2 Max chips, and also added the M2 Pro to the Mac mini....

For this one we’re going to focus on cooling design and thermal performance, overclocking and power. As a reference point, we should start with the Founders Edition model which is likely going to be one of the smaller RTX 3070 graphics cards you’ll come across. It measures just 241mm long which is a little shorter than the 2080 Ti FE card which measured 267mm. We’re using that example because both tend to deliver the same level of performance....

Despite its suspect memory performance, the Asus P7P55D Deluxe fared quite well in MaxxPI²’s 16MB calculation. In fact its multi-threaded performance was the best we saw from all P55 motherboards tested, though margins were too close to determine a real winner here. We measured processor performance using the MaxxPI² CPU Mips/FPU Flops test and again found that the Asus P7P55D Deluxe was able to match the other two P55 motherboards tested....

Starting with the negatives, the G752VS is enormous. Competing 17.3-inch products from MSI, Gigabyte and Alienware are all thinner and lighter while packing the same hardware, which could be key factors for buyers that actually want a portable gaming machine. However, the extra weight and thickness allows Asus to include a large cooling system that provides good overclocking headroom and surprisingly quiet (but not silent) operation while gaming. The ROG G752VS is also bold, gamer-style bold....

Features like 1000 nits of peak brightness, the high zone count local dimming backlight, and wide color gamut support hit the three key pillars of HDR and provide an excellent viewing experience. The PG27UQ looks much better than any SDR monitor in games that properly support HDR, and it’s not just a minor improvement: the difference in visual quality is significant from a number of perspectives. It’s truly the best and highest quality experience you’ll get from a gaming monitor in 2018....

Infinity Ward’s recently released Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 uses the IW 4.0 game engine and only supports DirectX 9. Interestingly, we found this game to be even less demanding than Call of Duty: World at War, though that could be a result of the level we chose to benchmark with. In any case, with an average of 131fps at 2560x1600, the Radeon HD 5970 was 30% faster than the GeForce GTX 295 and 70% faster than the Radeon HD 5870....

Soon after the crypto winter began back in June, decentralized finance (DeFi) platform The Celsius Network, which then was one of the biggest crypto lenders with $8 billion in client loans and almost $12 billion in assets, told its 1.7 million customers that it was pausing all withdrawals, swaps, and transfers between accounts due to “extreme market conditions.” The company filed for bankruptcy just one month later. Things haven’t improved since then....
