The radiator measures just 25mm thick and 120mm in diameter, and it is connected to the water-block using black tubing that we’ve found to be highly flexible and kink-free as advertised. The water-block features what Corsair calls a copper micro-fin coldplate that draws heat from the CPU into the circulating liquid. Unlike Silverstone’s design, the H75’s block is wrapped mainly in plastic, though honestly we don’t see a problem with this as it won’t corrode....

After a whopping 64 days of flight without a single stop, Airbus’ Zephyr suffered from an unfortunate (and unknown) failure that sent the drone into a steep dive over the Arizona Desert. According to Simply Flying, the craft reached speeds of over 4,500 feet per minute toward the end of its sudden descent. Airbus offered the following comment to Simply Flying: Airbus doesn’t seem keen on revealing exactly what went wrong with the Zephyr, so unless the company changes its mind down the line, the ‘circumstances’ of the drone’s failure will likely remain a mystery....

According to AMD CEO Lisa Su’s keynote last year, Genoa processors should have up to 96 cores based on the Zen 4 architecture and use the TSMC 5nm node. They’re supposed to have twice the density and power efficiency of their preceding series, Milan, and 25% more performance overall. Yuuki Ans, a prolific leaker in the high-performance compute sector, has revealed a spreadsheet containing some of the specs of eighteen models....

The Phenom II X4 965 was 6% faster than its predecessor in the Excel test. The Core 2 Quad Q9650 completed the test in almost half the time, while the Core i7 processors were even faster. The standings remain about the same in the Excel “Monte Carlo” test, though this time the Phenom II X4 processors are considerably faster than the Phenom X4 9950.

With the exception of the GeForce GTX 470 which was 43% slower than the Radeon HD 6950 at 1920x1200, when testing with Mass Effect 2 the rest of the results were relatively close. There was a mere 1% difference with the GeForce GTX 570, while it was 7% faster than the HD 6870.

The power consumption of the Radeon HD 7870 was comparable to that of the HD 5870 and HD 6950, this is impressive considering it delivers a lot more performance. With a total system consumption of 324 watts, the Radeon HD 7870 configuration used 14% less power than the Radeon HD 6970 despite being 11% faster at 1920x1200. The Radeon HD 7850 consumed just 294 watts under load. This is 9% less than the Radeon HD 6950, a card which it was a fraction faster than in most cases....

The core clock frequency has been lowered from 1GHz to 860MHz which has reduced the compute performance from 2.56 TFLOPS to 1.75 TFLOPS, a 32% reduction. At 860MHz the new Radeon HD 7850 is clocked 4% slower than the HD 6870 and 11% higher than the HD 6850. The GDDR5 memory still works at 1.2GHz, which is effectively 4.8GHz DDR. Because the memory bus is still 256-bit wide the bandwidth remains at an impressive 153....

The R9 Fury X wasn’t as potent when testing with Battlefield 4 as it trailed the GTX 980 Ti by 12% at 1600p. Despite that, it was still 15% faster than the GTX 980 and 21% faster than the R9 390X. At 4K, the gap between the Fury X and GTX 980 Ti was reduced to 5%. The R9 Fury X didn’t enjoy our Battlefield Hardline benchmark. For whatever reason it was slower than the GTX 980 at 1600p and 20% slower than the GTX 980 Ti, though performance did improve at 4K where the Fury X was 11% slower than the GTX 980 Ti and 11% faster than the GTX 980....

The Nano performed quite well in Battlefield 4 though it was just 3% faster than the R9 390X at 4K which worked out to be just 3fps. It was also 5% slower than the Fury and 13% faster than the GTX 980. The Battlefield Hardline results were similar to those seen when testing with Battlefield 4. The Nano averaged 35fps at 4K which again made it 5% slower than the Fury, though this time it was 20% slower than the GTX 980 Ti....

The RX 460 was slightly slower than the GTX 950 and R7 370 in Star Wars Battlefront with an average of 42fps. Granted, it was only 2fps slower but it is disappointing to see a small decline in performance rather than an improvement. The RX 460 did deliver 15% more performance than the R7 370 in Ashes of the Singularity, though with 30fps in the DX12 mode it was slower than the GTX 950 running under DX11....

The Radeon RX 480 features a TDP rating of 150 watts, which is pretty low compared to the R9 390, for example. However, the GTX 1070 also has a 150 watt TDP rating and the GTX 960 is rated at 120 watts, so I was keen to see what kind of consumption we would see from our test system when running the RX 480. So here we see when playing The Witcher 3 that the RX 480 consumed the same amount of power as the GTX 970 and only slightly less than the GTX 1070....

In any case the Ryzen 5 2600 is still respectable and overclocked edges out the stock 7700K and 7800X, it’s also not a great deal slower than the 8-core 1800X and 2700X. Moving to Assassin’s Creed Origins using the ultra quality preset and we see that the 2600 it only slightly faster than the 1600 out of the box. That said unlike the 1600 it does see a decent performance bump once overclocked, though something limits the AMD CPUs to around 98 fps in this title, could it be the Nvidia display driver?...

Anyway at 4 GHz the 1950X spat out an incredible score of 3408 pts in Cinebench though due to the way XFR works this overclock actually slightly reduced the single thread performance. You could probably fine tune the overclock to avoid this but with time against us we didn’t play around with the overclocking too much. Overclocked the Blender render time for the 1950X was cut down by an impressive 11% while the 1920X time was reduced by 6%....

At this point you must be familiar with the story of graphics card pricing. Early in 2017 things were going nicely on the graphics card market; you could find most cards in stock and at prices near their MSRP. But then as cryptocurrency mining started to boom in the later parts of 2017, and especially in early 2018, prices for cards started to soar as eager miners bought them in droves....

Two of the devices I tested – the Galaxy S5 and Moto G 2014 – saw performance gains on the CPU side when upgrading to Android 5.0. On average that improvement was around 5%, although individual results varied from no improvement to 10%+ gains. I would expect that anything in the 5-10% improvement range represents a best case scenario for an Android 5.0 upgrade, and unless 64-bit support was suddenly enabled on a supporting device, I’d be surprised if overall gains would be larger than that....

Typically the first component to be installed in a fresh build is the motherboard and therefore this is where we started. The easiest way to install your motherboard into the LanBoy Air is to remove the six screws holding the back plate in place. Once the plate is removed, the tray will slide out. Traditionally the back plate which houses the I/O panel and expansion brackets is connected to the tray, however being a somewhat unconventional computer case the LanBoy Air features the back plate and the tray as two separate components....

Apple recently announced the M1 Ultra, its new flagship SoC that will power the all-new Mac Studio, a compact yet high-performance desktop system. It claims the M1 Ultra powered Mac Studio would provide CPU performance up to 3.8 times faster than the 27-inch iMac with a 10-core processor. “[The M1 Ultra is a] game-changer for Apple silicon that once again will shock the PC industry,” said Johny Srouji, Apple’s senior vice president of hardware technologies....

On the lock screen, you can now swipe left to access the camera instead of having to swipe up over the camera icon. You can still access the Control Center by swiping up as was possible in iOS 9 and swipe down for notifications. Swiping to the right now brings you to a list of widgets you may be using such as sports scores or the weather. Whereas 3D Touch was the standout feature of iOS 9 a year ago, one needs to look no further than Apple’s own Messages app to find iOS 10’s star attraction....

Meta defended its position, saying its cut of the pie is “competitive” in the market. That was confusing since, again, the industry standard here is 30 percent, not anywhere near 50.
