The Rtx 3090 Ti Details Nvidia Promised Would Land In January Still Haven T Arrived

Rumors of an RTX 3090 Ti stretched back to May 2021 when a listing in Zotac’s FireStorm software suggested the company was confident one would arrive at some point. Several reports followed that claimed the card would launch in January, something that looked likely when Nvidia confirmed its existence during CES. Nvidia Senior VP Jeff Fisher revealed some details about the RTX 3090 Ti (or tie, as he still insists on calling it) at CES....

This Is What Comes Next For Amazon S Alexa

One of the apparent issues when understanding natural language is that the structure and syntax of spoken language that we all understand intuitively often needs to be broken down into many different sub-components before they can be “understood” by machines. That means the evolution of machine intelligence has been slower than many hoped because of the need to figure out the incremental steps necessary to really make sense of a given request....

This Pc Case With Built In Aquarium Is A Terrible Idea

The Y2 fish tank chassis from Metalfish is an aluminum computer case with a built-in fish tank mounted on top that can support micro-ATX or mini-ITX builds. It features dual 90mm cooling fans and can accommodate one 2.5-inch hard drive as well as dual-slot video cards up to 200mm in length. CPU cooler height is limited to 90mm. I’ll be the first to admit that the Y2 chassis looks neat, but that’s about as far as I’m willing to go....

This Woman Makes A Comfortable Living Helping Young People Overcome Their Fear Of Talking On The Phone

Mary Jane Copps picked up on the shifting landscape 16 years ago and launched a consulting company called The Phone Lady to help businesses train their staff on telephone etiquette. “Gen Z have never had the skills given to them,” Copps told Insider. Before smartphones, landline phones were as common in homes as televisions and microwaves. Kids learned at a very young age how to place and receive calls, and anxiety about talking to the person on the other end of the line was quite uncommon....

Touring Microsoft Sony And Apple Stores On Windows 8 S Launch Day

No one is more excited about the launch than Microsoft. The company has launched pop-up holiday stores at malls across America to promote the new OS and the Surface RT. I had a chance to check in with one of these stores at Aventura Mall in Miami, Florida. The Microsoft team had set up a kiosk in the center aisle. When I arrived, the place was bustling with folks seeing Surface for the first time....

Triple Monitor Gaming Geforce Gtx 590 Vs Radeon Hd 6990 Benchmarks Battlefield Bad Company 2 Bulletstorm

Back when we first reviewed the GeForce GTX 590 we found that at 2560x1600 it was 9% slower than the Radeon HD 6990. As we add more pixels at 5040x1050 we find that the GeForce GTX 590 is now 16% slower in this game. At 5760x1200 the Radeon HD 6990 was about 26% faster and at 7680x1600 it was 160% faster! To be fair, the latter results in undesirable frame rates on either card anyway, but it seems with 4xMSAA enabled the GeForce GTX 590 runs out of puff at these extreme high resolutions....

Tsmc Announces A Handful Of 3Nm Process Nodes N2 Coming In 2025

TSMC has just unveiled its entire N3 family of process nodes. Chip designers such as AMD, Apple, Nvidia, and even Intel will use these nodes over the next few years to fabricate their bleeding-edge chips. The Taiwanese company has a total of five different 3nm class nodes. N3 will begin high-volume manufacturing later this year, with the first chips expected to reach customers early next year. N3E will launch later with performance and efficiency improvements, higher yields, but slightly reduced logic density....

Two Factor Authentication Methods And Myths

However, after much research about two-factor authentication (often referred to as 2FA), I don’t think I’ll roll my eyes at it anymore. Let’s get to know two-factor authentication a little better, the different options out there, and dispel some myths surrounding that “annoying” extra step. Most Common Alternatives For Using 2FA SMS Verification It’s commonplace for apps and secure services to suggest you add 2FA at least via SMS messages, for example when logging into your account – either at all times or just when doing so from a new device....

Ultimate Consumer Ssd Showdown Benchmarks Real World Applications

Despite the significant performance differences seen in the file copy tests between the PCIe and SATA SSDs, that same difference isn’t as apparent when measuring game installation time. The Samsung SM951 was just 2 seconds faster than the SSD 850 Pro while Samsung’s flagship SATA SSD beat the G.Skill Phoenix Blade PCIe SSD and Kingston Predator PCIe SSD. Really, the only SSDs we could classify as being slow here are the Transcend SSD370, TS512GMTS800, OCZ Vector 180 and Kingston HyperX Savage....

Upcoming Ios 16 Update Rumored To Bring Big Lock Screen Changes

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that iOS 16 will significantly change the lock screen and the Messages app. Rumors of an always-on display have also returned. Currently, the iPhone lock screen only lets users access widgets, use Control Center functions, and read brief notifications. I use it to read recent news updates, check the weather, and occasionally bring out the calculator or flashlight. For iOS 16, we could see widget-like wallpapers and other significant changes....

Usb 3 0 64Gb Flash Drive Round Up Adata Kingston And Patriot Flash Drives

AData’s Nobility Series N005 is the most affordable of the three drives, costing $150 for the 64GB version. The Nobility Series N005 is considerably larger or at least longer than the Kingston and Patriot drives measuring 3.54" long, 0.80" wide and 0.45" thick. The N005’s price tag is also partially explained by ADATA’s quoted read and write performance, which is a bit lower than the competition’s. The company claims its drive has a maximum read throughput of 85MB/s and a write speed of 55MB/s....

Virtualized Desktops Gpu Acceleration Is This The Future Of Computing Virtualization And Gaming Wrap Up

When using XenDesktop with Nvidia GRID cards, the biggest problems we found were not related to performance (our GRID K2 workstation card actually performed pretty well considering the drivers are not optimized for gaming) but rather the fact that fullscreen mode and mouse capturing is simply not supported. The fullscreen issue is actually on purpose with XenDesktop (and VMware Horizon as well) to prevent a user from being unable to access their local desktop, but means that you have to run a game in windowed or fullscreen windowed mode....

Vmware Brings To Life Data Processing Units From Amd Intel And Nvidia

Sometimes also referred to as a SmartNIC (Network Interface Card), DPUs are starting to make an impact in corporate and cloud datacenters because of their ability to offload certain infrastructure tasks from a server’s main CPU. With the official launch of VMware’s vSphere 8 and support for Project Monterey, officially known as the vSphere Distributed Services Engine, the awareness and impact of DPUs is bound to get much larger. This latest version of VMware’s cloud virtualization platform is bringing support for new server architectures using DPUs from AMD and Nvidia....

Vram Put To The Test 2Gb Vs 4Gb Gtx 960 And R9 380 4Gb R9 290 Vs 8Gb R9 390 Benchmarks The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt Battlefield 4

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a stunning-looking video game with great textures that doesn’t consume a great deal of VRAM. Testing at 1080p provided some rather interesting results, though we were surprised by the weak 1% performance of the R9 380. Jumping up to 2560x1600 the 4GB version of the GTX 960 and R9 380 showed a slight advantage over the 2GB models and we are using up to 3....

Watch The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 Endure Scratch Burn And Bend Tests

Zack Nelson is once again putting the latest handheld through his scratch, burn, and bend tests to see how well it holds up. The Z Fold 3 predecessor managed pretty well—you can see that video here—so how will the latest foldable, which Samsung says is “unbreakable,” fare? One of the few differences between the Fold 3 and Fold 4 is the latter’s upgrade from Gorilla Glass Victus to Gorilla Glass Victus Plus on the front screen....

Ways To Free Up Storage Space On Windows

For this little guide we took it to an extreme by trying to free up space on an old 80GB Intel X25-M G2 solid state drive. Although SSDs have improved by leaps and bounds over the nine years since this Intel drive was released, the device still has plenty of life left according to SSDlife Free and Intel’s SSD Toolbox utility. Spending a mere $50 for a 250GB Samsung 860 Evo drive that is 200% faster than this old drive will eventually be a wise investment, but to be honest apart from frequently running out of storage, we haven’t had a reason to upgrade the drive, nor have we installed a new copy of Windows in more than five years....

Windows 10 Vs Windows 8 1 Vs Windows 7 Performance Encoding Performance

Windows 10 delivered similar performance to Windows 7 in our HandBrake encoding test while 8.1 was noticeably faster than both. Our Hybrid 4K benchmark saw almost no difference in performance between the three operating systems, though again Windows 10 matched 7 while 8.1 was a fraction faster. Yet again we see that Windows 10 matched Windows 7 while it was slightly slower than 8.1 – I emphasize slightly.

Xiaomi Mi 6 Review Hardware Overview And System Performance

In the CPU department, we’re looking at an upgrade from a 2+2 quad-core design in the Snapdragon 820, to a 4+4 octa-core design using new Kryo 280 CPU cores. The new Kryo 280 is not a derivative of the old Kryo core from the S820, instead being derived from the ARM Cortex-A73 which should bring improved IPC relative to last year’s core design. As for clock speeds, we’re seeing 2....
