Overwatch doesn’t require a great deal of GPU power for high frame rate performance, so it’s no surprise that the Radeon RX 480 delivers just that at 1080p. With an average of 136fps, the RX 480 managed to just outperform the GTX 970 and essentially match R9 390. Folks coming from the R9 380 can look forward to a 48% performance increase, while GTX 960 owners will receive 53% more performance....

The Radeon RX 7900 XTX has been widely anticipated as gamers have been readying for a new GPU generation, but Nvidia’s new products, while fast, are too expensive for most to even consider. Meanwhile, AMD was touting 50-70% performance gains for the Radeon 7900 XTX over the previous 6950 XT flagship when they unveiled the new card, which would place it within striking distance of the much more expensive RTX 4090 – at least for rasterization performance – which added to the hype and anticipation of the release....

The Ryzen 3 1200 wasn’t much faster than the G4560 in the Corona benchmark, but the 1300X was a good bit faster and even managed to beat the i3-7350K – in fact, it wasn’t much slower than the i5-7500. Overclocking didn’t help improve the 1300’s score by a noteworthy margin though it was now faster than the i5-7500, as was the 1200, so a good result for the budget Ryzen 3 processors....

As of writing, Intel’s 12700F can be had for $310, whereas the 5700X is slightly cheaper at $285, or about a 9% premium for the Intel CPU. In other regions like Australia, the 5700X typically retails for $425 and the 12700F $480 (AUD), which is slightly steeper for the Intel part, but your mileage will undoubtedly vary. It’s probably worth noting that in Australia the 5700X is about 10% more expensive than the 12600KF and a little over 20% more expensive than the base model 12600, so any way you go, it’s not going to be entirely apples to apples in terms of pricing....

First up we have Battlefield 1 and although performance doesn’t look great, it doesn’t look bad either with the Threadripper CPUs delivering similar performance to the R7 1700. That does however make them quite a bit slower than the Skylake-X CPUs, particularly the 7820X and 7900X. Please note that for our gaming tests I’ve lowered the quality settings slightly to try and reduce the GPU bottleneck. Moving to Total War: Warhammer we see some pretty ordinary performance, particularly in relation to Ryzen 7....

Yet more interesting results emerged from Battlefield 1’s benchmarks, in which the 1800X was 8% slower than the 6900K’s average result and 10% slower when measuring the minimum fps. Disabling SMT didn’t impact the average frame rate but the minimum was oddly 23% lower on the 1800X. Moving to 1440p, the 1800X and 1700X look competitive as they roughly match the 7700K and 6900K. F1 2016 runs better with SMT disabled, showing a 7% boost for the average frame rate and a massive 16% increase for the minimum....

As reported by the South China Morning Post, Apple grabbed 46% of China’s premium smartphone segment (handsets sold over $400) in the second quarter thanks to strong iPhone 13 sales, according to Counterpoint Research. That’s an increase of 3% compared to the same period one year earlier. It was even better news in the ultra-high-end segment of smartphones priced $1,000 or higher, which saw iPhone sales increase 147% year-over-year. It was also an excellent quarter for Samsung, which saw sales jump 133% YoY during the same period....

We recorded a constant increase in performance when raising the Core i7-4770K’s clock speed, which was a nice surprising considering how few games have allowed for that recently. There was a 38% boost in performance when going from 2.5GHz to 4.5GHz, and while margins became smaller as we dialed up the frequency, we still experienced a 4% change when shifting from 4GHz to 4.5GHz. Considering the Core i7’s overclocking results, we expected even bigger margins from the FX-8350, and that’s exactly what we got....

The Czech studio writes that the massive amount of user-generated content and mods, many of them of Russian and Ukrainian equipment, available for Arma 3 make it an ideal game for creating fake videos. “While it’s flattering that Arma 3 simulates modern war conflicts in such a realistic way, we are certainly not pleased that it can be mistaken for real-life combat footage and used as war propaganda,” said Pavel Křižka, PR Manager of Bohemia Interactive....

The x264 HD Benchmark 3.0 is used to measure the performance of a 2-pass 1280x720 encoding and results are displayed in frames per second. Here the Asus Crosshair IV Extreme matches the performance of the Formula board while putting on an impressive showing with the Phenom II X6 processor once again. Using TMPGEnc, we converted a 715MB avi file to mpg and measured the time it took for each processor to complete this task....

The 890GX provided a few extra frames per second when compared to the 790GX while it matched the Intel GMA HD at 1920x1080. The performance when testing with Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 using the lowest possible in-game quality settings was still very poor and again the visual quality was shocking. Despite of using the lowest possible graphics settings, none of the IGP chipsets could deliver what we call playable performance in Far Cry 2....

If you are looking for a LGA1156 motherboard to couple with a Core i5 or Core i7 processor, you only get the option to pick among P55-based motherboards, which reduces the gap between each manufacturer’s offerings. Furthermore, this platform exclusively supports dual-channel DDR3 memory, so there will be no deviations as far as memory support is concerned. In terms of features the Asus P7P55D Deluxe gets away with offering just enough for a $220 motherboard in our opinion....

Before we look at the performance of the GL502VS in games, let’s take a look at 3DMark performance. Like with system performance, the GL502VS performs as expected in this synthetic GPU benchmark, matching the other GTX 1070 laptop we’ve benchmarked in the Fire Strike and Time Spy workloads. Performance in our usual range of test games is not surprising either, with the GL502VS falling within a few percent of the G752VS, the other GTX 1070 laptop we’ve reviewed....

Finally, with Wolfenstein running at 1440x900 the Radeon HD 5570 averaged 56fps. Although this meant the game was playable, the Radeon HD 5570 was still slower than the Radeon HD 4670 by a 14% margin and 18% compared to the GeForce 9600 GT.

Fortunately, most Baldur’s Gate 3 players probably won’t be too disappointed here. Larian has been very good about not giving specific dates and deadlines when they aren’t sure they can meet them – so a delay is never truly a delay in the traditional sense. Additionally, while Baldur’s Gate 3’s Early Access won’t receive any new content outside of Act 1 (though it has received a couple new questlines within Act 1), Larian still continues to pump out meaty patches every three months or so....

Increasing the resolution to 1920x1200 on ultra reduced the R9 290X to 60fps – equal to the R9 270X in Crossfire – and the GTX Titan was 13% slower with 52fps. If you intend to average 40fps with these settings, you’ll need at least the HD 7970 or GTX 770, though the GTX 670 or HD 7870 might suffice if you’re willing to play with 30fps. Dropping the quality to high allowed the GTX 660 and its Ti version to produce 41fps and 43fps while the HD 7850 fared well with 46fps and the 7870 was even faster at 55fps....

The company has also put together a small collection of impressive CPU air-coolers with latest being the $90 Dark Rock Pro 3. More recently, Be Quiet! has been working on a new project it calls “Silent Base” with the Silent Base 800 being the company’s first computer chassis. Although this is Be Quiet!’s first case, it was designed over more than a year entirely in-house at Germany – something the company is proud of....

A few months back, Buick global VP Duncan Aldred said the division would be all-electric by 2030. The rapid electrification effort will require a substantial investment from dealers who will need to update their facilities with charging stations and specialized equipment to service EVs in their shops. Some dealers have said refurbishment costs could total more than $300,000. Not everyone will be interested in dumping that much money into the initiative....
