Although the A10-7850K’s CPU performance was disappointing, its 512-SPU R7 GPU looks to be the fastest integrated solution we have seen yet with 21.5fps at 1680x1050 in Company of Heroes 2, 13% faster than the A8-7600, 24% faster than the A10-6800K and 144% faster than the Core i5-4430 (Intel HD Graphics 4600). The A10-7850K averaged 27.6fps in Metro: Last Light for 5% more performance than the A8-7600 and 22% more than the A10-6800K....
The F1 2010 results are interesting because the Radeon HD 6950 was 5% slower than the older HD 5870 at 1920x1200. It was 7% faster than the Radeon HD 6870, and 9% slower than the HD 6970. The Radeon HD 6970 bombed out when testing with Just Cause 2 as we saw an average of just 37fps at 1920x1200. Opting for the older SB710 south bridge chip has its disadvantages, naturally. Apart from the fact that it is based on a 130nm process and requires more power, it’s also not quite as feature packed as the newer SB850. On Thursday, an asteroid passed by Earth in what NASA says is “one of the closest approaches by a near-Earth object ever recorded.” The space rock known as “Asteroid 2023 BU” flew over the tip of South America on January 26 at 7:27 EST. According to the US space organization, the object passed only 2,200 miles from Earth’s surface. That distance is 10 times closer than the altitude of geosynchronous satellites, which are about 22,000 miles away....

Google’s latest chart showing the distribution of Android versions across devices is the first since it released Android 13 last August. The company’s latest mobile operating system is already on just over five percent of Android phones. Version 12 also increased its share in the last five months. I did not notice an appreciable difference in games on the iPhone 4S over the iPhone 4, but that could be because developers just haven’t had the time to optimize their games for the new processor yet – possibly developers won’t even bother to do so until a larger user base has moved to faster CPUs running iOS, too. Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) analyst Ross Young said back in October that the next iPhone SE could ship with a much larger 6.1-inch display. For comparison, the third-gen iPhone SE packs a 4.7-inch Retina HD display which is considered small by today’s standards. Dual-channel platforms such as AMD’s AM4 or Intel’s LGA1151 require two matched memory modules for dual-channel operation, adding a second pair will only expand memory capacity and won’t upgrade you to quad-channel memory, for that you’d need a Threadripper or Cascade Lake-X processor. However, we’ve seen tests around showing an increase in performance by adding two extra modules, allegedly without increasing memory frequency, or improving timings. We believe this due to how the memory is configured or more precisely, the memory ‘rank’....
Microsoft was awarded a $480 million contract to provide the US Army with Integrated Visual Augmentation System (IVAS) headsets in 2018, marking the beginning of a project that has brought much controversy for both entities. The initial agreement was expanded in March 2021, ensuring Microsoft will provide finalized production versions, parts, and support in an agreement potentially worth up to $21.9 billion across a decade. The Army ordered an initial 5,000 units, valued at $373 million, with around 121,000 to be delivered over the course of the deal....
However, Asrock Vision 3D’s Nvidia GeForce GT 425M did provide a significant performance boost over the Core 100HT-BD, which relies on the painfully slow integrated Intel GMA HD graphics engine. Using Povray, we measured the time in seconds that it took for each system to complete rendering the Biscuit and Woodbox images. The result of going from quad-channel DDR4 to dual-channel is a 38% reduction in peak memory bandwidth. However, if the Haswell-E platform is anything like past Intel extreme platforms we shouldn’t see much if any change in real-world performance. The CPU cache performance is unchanged and this is to be expected, though the Asrock X99E-ITX/ac still showed particularly strong performance. Synthetic Benchmarks The X99E-ITX/ac’s performance is unaffected by the reduced memory bandwidth in Cinebench R15 CPU as its performance is on par with the full-sized ATX Fatal1ty X99X Killer....
In fact, the 4.6GHz preset didn’t work either. However, the chip did tolerate the 4.4GHz setting, which also set the voltage to 1.300v. That’s a 26% frequency boost without any overclocking knowledge required. By manually tweaking the Z87 Extreme11/ac, which involved setting the clock multiplier to x45 and increasing the voltage to 1.330v, we were able to obtain a stable overclock of 4.5GHz, just 100MHz faster than the automatic option....
