Next year, BMW cars featuring the company’s latest iDrive infotainment system will have access to casual local multiplayer games through AirConsole. Occupants can control games on the car console’s screen with their smartphones. Requiring smartphones for AirConsole seems cumbersome. However, using phones as controllers allows users to play local multiplayer games on one screen, offering a couch-co-op experience while waiting in your car. The only way to get a similar experience is to use a Nintendo Switch with the Joy-Cons disconnected and the screen fastened to the inside of the vehicle....

In a regulatory note to investors, CD Projekt Red said the decision was made based on recommendations from people in charge of development. The studio further said it is evaluating the scope of the remaining work to be done and has postponed launch until further notice. According to a South China Morning Post report, the Chinese government is spearheading the development of a desktop operating system that could replace the need for American-made ones like Windows and macOS. Kylinsoft, a state-owned China Electronics Corp. subsidiary, is leading the new effort. The company has partnered with several local organizations, such as the National Industrial Information Security Development Research Center. Its first goal is to set up an open-source code community called “openKylin” to encourage more programmers to contribute....

Using an intelligent tool-less design, the 5.25" drive bays offer a quick and reliable way to install and remove devices. While the majority of the tool-less features we’ve used are clumsy and impractical, this implementation actually works very well. Cooler Master has always developed the best tool-less bays in my opinion and although the one used in the Silencio 650 seems like a cut down version of what we saw in the HAF X, it still works very well....

We used Fraps to measure frame rates during a minute of gameplay from the first single-player level called Second Chance for all our benchmarks. Late last year, a robotics engineer named Ken Pillonel (Kenny Pi) showed us the first iPhone with a working USB-C port. This year he decided to invert this idea and modded an Android phone with a Lightning port. Core and memory reference speeds for the GT 240 are 550MHz and 1700MHz (GDDR5), respectively. However, with their special “GeForce GT240 1024MB GDDR5 Golden Sample” Gainward has bumped these numbers by around 6 and 11 percent, respectively, as the core now operates at 585MHz and the memory at 1890MHz....

But let’s put things into further context. The GTX 780 that debuted last week was based on the same Kepler GK110 architecture used by the GTX Titan. Nvidia priced the GTX 780 at $650, making it 35% cheaper than the GTX Titan but also 40% more than the GTX 680. In terms of performance, the GTX 780 was only 10 - 15% slower than the Titan, so it added value to an otherwise very exclusive price point, however when compared to the GTX 680 the numbers were less impressive as the GTX 780 was just 24% faster....

We found that even the tallest of heatsinks still had tons of headroom while extra-long graphics cards such as the Radeon HD 6990 also fit comfortably with room to spare. The fact that hard drives are mounted sideways conserves space and makes cable management that much easier because all the messy cables are routed directly to the side of the case. Installing 3.5" drives was easy as the process does not require any tools or screws....

It’s been a month since our initial 5600 XT review and it’s fair to say we weren’t blown away by the new sub-$300 Radeon. Wrapping up that review we said “The Radeon RX 5600 XT is a respectable product that has pushed for lower prices and better performance at $300. For that alone, we commend it. The GPU won’t blow your socks off and yet it’s better value than the Radeon RX 5700 and makes the RTX 2060 Super a really tough buy....
