Sound This is not an audiophile’s headset. Audio playback was clear but not rich. The bass is definitely a weakness here. With 50mm drivers, the lack of bass was surprising. Toshiba is making moves in this direction with touchless “holographic” displays. Ubisoft confirmed that it would resume releasing games on Steam after a three-year absence. The hiatus will end when it launches Assassin’s Creed Valhalla on the storefront on December 6. “We’re constantly evaluating how to bring our games to different audiences wherever they are, while providing a consistent player ecosystem through Ubisoft Connect,” Ubisoft told Eurogamer on Monday. “Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Anno 1800, and Roller Champions are among the Ubisoft titles that will be releasing on Steam....

Highlighting elements such as the photorealistic eyes, hair, skin, the video shows a middle-aged woman playing chess in a transforming room. The newly developed short made in Unity was built using the engine’s new High Definition Render Pipeline (HDRP), Adaptive Probe Volumes, and Screen Space Global Illumination (SSGI)....

Starting with build 11.2211.35.0, Windows 11 dev channel insiders will see a screen recording function in the Snipping Tool app. The feature lets users record all or part of the screen to make video clips of anything they do in the operating system. When users open the Snipping Tool, they should see the “record” tab next to the “snip” option at the top of the window. Users who don’t want to record the entire screen can highlight and refine the selection of the screen they want to capture before starting the recording....

As expected, the Adreno 510 GPU provides a significant performance improvement on the Adreno 405 in older Snapdragon 61x SoCs. Here the Adreno 510 is more than twice as fast, which translates into significantly better in-game frame rates at 1080p. The performance of this GPU is close to the Adreno 418 in the Snapdragon 808, so it also boasts decent gains on the Snapdragon 801 and Snapdragon 805. Combined with strong CPU performance, the Snapdragon 650 is a perfect SoC to complement the Snapdragon 820: the S820 still provides decent better performance for flagships (around 20% on the CPU, and more than 2x on the GPU), but the S650 is a very competent mid-range chip....

It’s unclear what the advantage is to having a curved display rather than a standard flat display, although it might have something to do with attempting to ergonomically fit your face during phone calls. What it does bring, though, is the goal of a flexible smartphone one step closer to reality, which has remained a pipe dream for many companies producing handsets today. A curved handset may not be the ideal form factor for the majority of users, so don’t expect your favorite flagships to change that much, but curved displays will be available for those wanting something different....
