The AMD A10-6800K is at the top of our chart when measuring gaming performance in Medal of Honor Warfighter using the integrated Radeon HD 8670D. That said, performance was virtually identical the A10-5800K, only the increase in CPU frequency likely put it slightly ahead. When compared to the Core i5-3450, the A10-6800K was 167% faster while it wasalso 39% faster than the Core i5-3570K. The A4-4000 was less impressive with 12....

By default, the AMD A75 FCH (Fusion Controller Hub – codenamed Hudson-D3) provides six SATA 6Gb/s ports supporting RAID0, 1, 10 as well as four USB 3.0 ports and ten USB 2.0 ports. The chipset also provides four PCIe 2.0 x1 slots while the rest of the lanes are provided by the processor. In an effort to make the A75 Extreme6 more appealing, Asrock has bolstered SATA support by including the ASMedia ASM1061 controller, which connects using the PCIe x1 interface and provides an extra two SATA 6Gb/s connectors....

Frank Azor, AMD’s Chief Architect of Gaming Solutions and Marketing, tweeted that as a gamer, he is grateful to see renewed competition in the high-end graphics card segment. He also posted a chart claiming to show how AMD’s Radeon lineup fares against Nvidia’s similarly priced equivalents when it comes to performance per dollar (FPS/$) and frames per watt (FPS/Watt). According to the chart, AMD’s RDNA 2 line offers up to 89% more performance per dollar than Nvidia’s cards—that figure compares the RX 6400 to the GTX 1050 Ti....

This is essentially the same Deneb architecture that is used by the Phenom II X4 series, except for the L3 cache which has been removed from the Athlon II X4 parts. With models ranging from 2.20GHz through to 2.9GHz on the horizon, AMD has decided to unleash the Athlon II X4 620 first, clocked at 2.6GHz and expected to retail for just $100. The amazingly low price tag puts this chip in a category of its own, as there are currently no quad-core parts competing here....

Thermals were also kept in check, however the Radeon HD 6990 is easily the loudest graphics card we tested. You could say AMD’s efforts to keep the card running cool were successful, but they completely forgot the “quiet” part of the equation. Still with a maximum temperature of 88 degrees we were surprised, even with the noise.

The R9 270X core was boosted by 14% to 1.2GHz while the memory was pushed just 2.1% higher to 5720MHz. The Radeon R9 270X also made a core frequency of 1.2GHz which was a 9% increase and the memory also overclocked by 2.1% to 6640MHz. As you can see the performance gains from our overclock were slim at best as we saw just 1-2 fps more in most cases....

Dying Light is another game where the Radeon R9 380X pulls well ahead of the R9 280X, as was the case Civilization: Beyond Earth we find the R9 380X to be more than 20% faster. Not only that, but as was the case with Civilization we find when testing Dying Light the R9 380X was just 9% slower than the R9 390 but 14% faster than the R9 380....

When it came to overclocking, our 1600X sample was good for 4.1GHz while the 1500X sample hit 3.95GHz. Testing with Premiere Pro saw the 1600X boost its performance by 9% once overclocked, making it slightly faster than the stock Core i7-7700K and not much slower than the stock 1800X. The 1500X performance was improved by just 4%, which was disappointing, mostly because overclocking the 7600K lead to an 18% improvement taking just 267 seconds....

Since then, we’ve tested and confirmed that L3 cache heavily influences gaming performance (see our feature “How CPU Cores & Cache Impact Gaming Performance” for details). That article was inspired by endless claims that more cores were the way to go for gamers, despite the fact that games are really bad at using core-heavy processors… and we don’t expect that to change any time soon. As a quick example, we found many instances where increasing the L3 cache of a 10th-gen Core series processor from 12 to 20 MB – a 67% increase – could boost gaming performance by around 20%, whereas increasing the core count from 6 to 10 cores – also a 67% increase – would only improve performance by 6% or less....

Power consumption is one area where AMD continues to impress. Come to think of it, Intel has also been quite surprising in this department lately, but for the opposite reasons. Whereas the 10-core 7900X pushed total system consumption to an incredible 281 watts in the Corona benchmark, the 16-core 1950X reached just 257 watts, a 9% decrease in total consumption. That’s a truly impressive result for AMD given that the 1950X was faster in every single one of our productivity workloads, sometimes by quite a significant margin, and yet it consumes less power....

Robert Hallock, AMD’s Director of Technical Marketing, explained that the company’s new naming scheme is technical yet straightforward. An enthusiast should be able to decode the number, while the average user can see that “a higher number simply connotes higher CPU performance.” It’s more descriptive than AMD’s previous naming convention, as each digit means something. The first digit represents the processor’s launch year, with AMD’s Ryzen 7000 series assigned to 2023....

In July, things are a bit different thanks to larger price drops on the AMD side. When looking at a six-game cost per frame average, recording the 1% low performance at 1440p and using the same games as the May analysis, we see some movement in the value charts. In this smaller selection of GPUs, the RX 580 8GB has taken the crown from the GTX 1060 6GB; it was a slim win to the 1060 last time, but a 14% price drop for the AMD card compared to just 9% for the Nvidia offering has swung things in AMD’s favour....

Unsurprisingly we’re seeing basically no change in GPU performance. The Galaxy S5’s gains were just under 2% while the Moto G saw no increase or decrease at all. In line with what we saw on the CPU side, the LG G3’s performance dropped by around 4%. The Moto X’s performance also decreased, but by such a small amount it’s basically within the margin of error.

A battery replacement for the iPhone SE (any generation) is even cheaper at $49. Apple’s support page notes that an iPhone’s warranty doesn’t cover batteries that wear down from normal use. That said, customers with AppleCare+ can have their battery replaced for free so long as it holds less than 80 percent of its original capacity. iPhone users can check the status of their battery by going to Settings -> Battery -> Battery Health....

Kuo’s latest remarks build on his previous stance that Apple is no longer interested in integrating a Touch ID-based fingerprint reader under the front screen. The general consensus was that Apple could launch an iPhone with an under-screen fingerprint reader in 2023 as Face ID didn’t work all that well for those wearing masks. Apple has since made improvements to Face ID to boost reliability when wearing a mask, largely eliminating the need to revert back to fingerprint biometrics....

Here’s the short answer: Yes, in the sense that you get a key for less than full price, but no in the sense that they are not supported by game developers – and gray market sites may not support game developers either. Legit in the sense that you get a key Sites like G2A are legitimate in the sense that you will pay less for games and receive a working key that you can use on services like Steam....

As you can see the Asrock Vision 3D fairs very well thanks to the Nvidia GeForce GT 425M graphics card, producing a throughput of 361kB/s, which is 15% faster than the Core 100HT-BD. We used Muvee Reveal to apply various filters to a small 768x576 video file, and the Asrock Vision 3D performed very well, beating the AMD Phenom II X2 560 rig by 45 seconds. Meanwhile, the Core 100HT-BD hand struggled with this test taking 47 minutes and 46 seconds to complete what the other two systems did in under 13 minutes....

The sticker (pictured below) is a warning under the guise of an installation guide. It has some tables saying where to install the memory, a note warning that the first boot after a CMOS reset could take a while, and another table with the boot times associated with different memory capacities — up to 400 seconds or six and a half minutes for four 32GB sticks. In a thread about the issue, keen Redditor u/PalmMallMars suggested that the sticker was there to stop users from taking the motherboard back to the store for a replacement, thinking it was faulty because of the long boot times....

We witnessed the same exact gain in our program file copy test: the SSD/HDD duo was 12% faster. That speed advantage dipped down to only 8% in our game copy test, which worked out to just under 4MB/s.

The purpose of the 890GX is to remove all doubt that AMD can keep offering the best integrated platform. The Intel GMA HD closed the gap on the 785G and 790GX chipsets, so AMD needed something that was hands down better and they have delivered in part with the 890GX. Looking at the value proposition of the different platforms, as we mentioned earlier you can pick up AMD’s previous flagship IGP chipset on a well equipped motherboard for less than $90....
