Testing Max Payne 3 at 1920x1200 allowed the GTX 760 to average 73fps and the overclocked Gainward card couldn’t improve that figure. Still, the GTX 760 was 24% faster than the GTX 660 Ti, 10% faster than the HD 7870 and 9% faster than the 7950. The frame time results were quite surprising as the GTX 760 was 11% slower than the overclocked Phantom board despite showing no real difference in the frames per second testing....

Once again the GeForce GTX 570 delivers a notable performance with just 14% slower frame rates than the GTX 580 when testing with Crysis Warhead at 1920x1200. This meant that it was 2% faster than the GeForce GTX 480 and 32% faster than the GTX 470. We also saw a 9% margin favoring the GeForce GTX 570 over the Radeon HD 5870. World in Conflict Soviet Assault World in Conflict has a solid built-in benchmark tool, so we used that for testing this game, which was run at “very high” quality with 4xAA/16xAF....

When at idle the Gigabyte GTX 780 GHz Edition and GTX 780 Ti OC allowed for a system consumption of 60 watts which is quite typical. The GTX 780 GHz Edition consumed 15% more power than a standard GTX 780, as it hit 319 watts. The Gigabyte GTX 780 Ti OC consumed just 5% more power than a standard GTX 780 Ti. Then compared to the Radeon R9 290X they consumed around 5% more power....

Kojima was his usual elusive self during the Xbox Game Studios partnership announcement. The HIS Radeon HD 6850 IceQ X Turbo averaged 28fps, only 4% faster than a standard Radeon HD 6850 and 8% faster than the GeForce GTX 460. It was also 13% slower than the GeForce GTX 560 Ti and Radeon HD 6870 graphics cards. A pair of HIS Radeon HD 6870 IceQ X Turbo X operating in Crossfire averaged 43fps at 2560x1600, about 4% slower than the GeForce GTX 590 and 14% slower than the Radeon HD 6990....

While Ryzen Mobile is super interesting, the Envy x360 is worth talking about in its own right, especially as AMD enthusiasts or really anyone looking for decent laptop graphics might be interested in buying one of these systems. It’s also available in an Intel version, but Ryzen is the star of the show here so it will be the focus of this review. The Envy x360 is HP’s mid-tier 15-inch convertible laptop, which sits below the Spectre x360 that’s available in 15 and 13 inch sizes....

The main thing to note here is the Envy x360 actually has quite a small battery for a 15.6-inch laptop, at just 55.7 Wh. Typically we see at least 70 Wh in machines of this size, if not up near the 100 Wh range, but around 56 Wh is more like what we see in 13-inch notebooks. This already puts the Envy x360 at a disadvantage up against its competitors....

Conferencing between people working at home and in offices is the central theme of the press release announcing a series of new PCs from HP this week. Expected to launch at various dates between February and May, the computers feature Intel’s Alder Lake processors and a host of HP’s new video conferencing technology. The HP Store shows four Elite 800 G9 models as “coming soon,” all of which come with Alder Lakes....

As you’d expect, there are a handful of adjustable settings, such as ISO, white balance, and exposure, plus things like panorama, burst mode, and face detection. I couldn’t see any self timer or geo-tagging options, but at least it’s possible to save your settings, rather than having to reset the camera each time you use it, as was the case previously. The Titan’s camera records 720p HD video at 30fps, and generally does a decent job at it....

As you can see from these results, the HTC U11 isn’t a particularly fantastic performer when it comes to battery life. In some cases we are seeing a regression from the HTC 10, at other times an improvement, but the phone never pushes into the top echelon of any test. The good news is that in most tests, the U11 falls around the same marks as phones like the LG G6, Huawei P10 and OnePlus 5, which are in a similar class of flagships....

The core premise seems simple enough: you play as a human adventurer from a top-down, Minecraft Dungeons-like camera angle. Piglins (a hostile ‘mob’ in Minecraft) are invading the overworld from the Nether, and it’s up to you to stop them – along with some unlikely allies, including Zombies, Creepers, and other ordinarily-evil monsters. Though we’ve only seen a short gameplay trailer so far, it looks like players will be controlling hordes of units, gathering resources, and building up base defenses to survive Piglin onslaughts....

When overclocking the Inno3D GTX 480 iChill graphics card we enjoyed a 15% performance boost in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat at 2560x1600. This allowed the GTX 480 iChill Black Series to only match the performance of the Radeon HD 5870.

To put things into perspective, we should first compare the specifications of both chips. The Intel Celeron G6900 is a 2C/2T processor with a 3.4GHz base frequency, 4MB of L3 cache and 46W TDP. As for the Core i9-10900K, it’s a 10C/20T CPU with a 3.7GHz base frequency, boosting up to 5.3GHz using Thermal Velocity Boost technology. In addition, the chip carries 20MB of L3 cache and has a 125W TDP....

This could point to an immature BIOS on our Asrock X79 Extreme11 motherboard, or a mistake on our behalf, or perhaps Ivy Bridge-E simply won’t overclock that well. The best result we managed was 4.4GHz, just 400MHz above the max boost clock. This was the same result we achieved with the i7-3960X. While a 22% frequency boost from the base clock speed of 3.6GHz is nothing to sneeze at, we were hoping to go higher....

Our Handbrake test only shows a slight performance improvement when using the Core i7-5960X as opposed to the 4960X and 4790K. When running the x264 HD Benchmark the Core i7-5960X was found to be 12% faster than the 4960X and 34% faster than the 4790K. TMPGEnc Video Master Works was able to utilize all 16 threads, though only seems to utilize each at around 20% or less. As a result the Core i7-5960X was actually quite a bit slower than the 4960X, we suspect this software needs an update to better utilize the 5960X....
